The Treasurer's Office serves the taxpayers. The Treasurer acts as the bank for
the County and is responsible for the control of cash and the collection and apportionment
of Personal and Real Property Taxes levied on the property by the various taxing
authorities based on the valuation and current property usage as set by the Assessor's
Office. Notices are sent to property owners based on the names and addresses on
file at the Assessor's Office. These notices are sent in September and are for the
current calendar year. The tax is on the property, not the person whose name is
on the notice or owner of record. If the tax is not paid eventually the property
may be forfeited and auctioned.
