Greenlee County is Considering Increasing Secondary Tax Rates for Flood Control
and Public Health Services Districts
Pursuant to A.R.S. 11-251.13, the Greenlee County Board of Supervisors will consider
increasing the tax rate for the Greenlee County Health Services District to a rate
not to exceed the maximum tax rate of $.2500. The tax rate for FY 2009-2010 was
$.1525 per $100 of assessed valuation. The Board may consider raising the rate to
$.2500 per $100 of assessed valuation. The assessed valuation of Greenlee County
dropped by 44% from FY 2009-2010 to FY 2010-2011.. Cost shifts from the State of
Arizona to the county and the loss of funding sources through state sweeps of the
funds has resulted in the need to increase the tax rate in order to maintain services
at the proposed level.
Pursuant to A.R.S. 11-251.13, the Greenlee County Board of Supervisors is considering
increasing the tax rate for the Greenlee County Flood Control District to a rate
not to exceed the maximum tax rate of $.5000. The tax rate for FY 2009-2010 was
$.1121 per $100 of assessed valuation. The Board is considering raising the rate
to $.2200 per$100 of assessed valuation. With the drop in the assessed valuation,
cost shifts from the State of Arizona, and the sweeping of historical county funding
sources, the county will consider the tax rate increase in order to maintain the
proposed level of funding for flood control projects.
